(1) 疑問詞としての用法
which に ever を加えると、疑問詞の意味を強調することができます。
1. a. Whichever [Which ever] car do you want?
1. a. 一体どちらの[どの]車が欲しいのですか。
1. b. Whichever [Which ever] do you want?
1. b. 一体どちら[どれ]が欲しいのですか。
※ which と ever は、離しても構いません。
※ a. は疑問形容詞、b. は疑問代名詞です。
《補足》
on earth や in the world を疑問詞の後に置いても、同じように強調できます。
Which car の場合、which の直後に置くのか、which car の後に置くのか迷いますね。
Which in the world [on earth] car do you want?
Which car in the world [on earth] do you want?
一応、which の直後に置く方が正用法だとされていますが、確証がないので断言は避けておきます。
(2) 関係形容詞・関係代名詞としての用法

※ この用法の場合は、 whichever と一語で綴ります。
※ 2. b. は、代名詞の one[もの] を加えて、Choose whichever one you like. でもいいでしょう。
※ 3. b. も、 one を加えて、 Choose whichever one is the most appropriate to the task. でも構いません。
注意すべき点は、
2. の例文は、whichever (car) が動詞 like の目的語になっていること[目的格]、whichever (car) you like が大きな名詞[名詞節]になっていて、述語動詞の choose の目的語になっていること。
3. の例文は、 whichever (tool) が動詞 is の主語になっていていること[主格]、whichever (tool) is the most appropriate to the task が大きな名詞[名詞節]になっていて、述語動詞の choose の目的語になっていること。

※ 二者択一の場合は either、三者以上択一の場合は any を使います。
※ ～ が省略されている場合、either や any そのものにも、代名詞の用法がありますが、単独で先行詞にするとちょっと不自然なので、～ の代わりに代名詞の one を加えて、 either one / any one とするほうが自然です。
※ anyone と一語に綴[つづ]ると、anybody (誰でも) という意味に解釈されるので、離して any one にしましょう。

(3) 譲歩節としての用法
whichever ～ S + V / whichever S + V や whichever ～ V / whichever V は、「(たとえ)Ｓがどちらの[どの]～をＶしようとも / (たとえ)Ｓがどちら[どれ]をＶしようとも」「(たとえ)どちらの[どの]～がＶしようとも / (たとえ)どちら[どれ]がＶしようとも」という、譲歩の意味を表すことがあります。
その場合は、(2) の名詞節としての用法とは全く違い、副詞節[文が大きな副詞相当語句になったもの]になります。
つまり、もう一つ S + V の英文が必要です。
また、文語では、may が入っていることもあります。
まとめると、

言い換え表現
譲歩を表す場合、口語英語では、whichever の代わりに no matter which を使います。
口語ですから、may はめったに使われません。

※ no matter は「問題ではない」という意味が原義で、
「Ｓ’がどちらの[どの]～をＶ’するかは問題ではない → (たとえ)Ｓ’がどちらの[どの]～をＶ’しようとも」
「Ｓ’がどちら[どれ]をＶ’するかは問題ではない → (たとえ)Ｓ’がどちら[どれ]をＶ’しようとも」
「どちらの[どの]～がＶ’するかは問題ではない → (たとえ)どちらの[どの]～がＶ’しようとも」
「どちら[どれ]がＶ’するかは問題ではない → (たとえ)どちら[どれ]がＶ’しようとも」
という意味になります。
4. a. = No matter which car you choose, you'll be satisfied.
4. a. = You'll be satisfied no matter which car you choose.
4. a. どちら[どの]車を選んでも、あなたは満足するでしょう。
4. b. = No matter which you choose, you'll be satisfied.
