名詞 of Ving ： Ｖする(という)名詞

of Ving が名詞の内容を説明しています。

正式にはには「同格の of」と呼ばれているものですが、「内容説明の of Ving」と覚えておいて方が実戦的です。

上の英語は、まだ大きな名詞[名詞句]で完全な文になっていません。
前後に語句を追加して完全な文にしてみましょう。

1. Who came up with the idea of having a surprise party?
1. come up with ～ ： ～を思いつく
2. The custom of taking off shoes at the entrance might seem strange to visitors from overseas.
2. might seem (to be) C ： Ｃであるように思われるかもしれない
2. visitors from overseas [オウヴァスィーズ] ： 海外からの訪問者
