A: Just think, not long ago it took quite a while to travel around the world.
ちょっと考えてみてください。
つい最近まで世界一周旅行をするのはかなり時間がかかったんですよ。
B: Yes. But nowadays you can travel around the world in a few hours.
はい。でも、最近は数時間で世界一周旅行ができます。
A: I'm afraid I still prefer to travel slowly.
残念ながらそれでも私はゆっくり旅行するほうがいいです。
B: Why? Are you afraid of airplanes?
どうしてですか？飛行機が怖いのですか？
A: I don't know. I've never been on one. Have you?
I've never been on one. = I've never been on an airplane.
わかりません。飛行機には乗ったことがないので。君はあるのですか？
B: Sure. They're a lot of fun. Comfortable, too.
もちろん。飛行機はとても楽しいですよ。快適ですしね。

A: Why did you decide to travel to Nikko by car?
なぜあなたは車で日光へ旅行することにしたのですか？
B: I thought it would be cheaper than taking the train.
列車に乗るよりそっちのほうが安い(だろう)と思ったからです。
A: But didn't it take you quite a while?
take 人 時間 ： 人に時間をかからせる
しかし、それはあなたにかなりの時間をかからせませんでしたか。
→ でも、かなり時間がかかりませんでしたか？
B: No. Just four hours.
いいえ。ほんの4時間でした。
A: But you can make it by train in three.
make it (to ～) ： (～に)到達できる
[例] Did you make it to the top? (頂上まで行けましたか)
でも、列車だと3時間で行けます。
B: Maybe so. But I still prefer to drive.
多分そうかもしれませんが、それでも私は車で行く方がいいんです。
