1. After all is similar to the Japanese kekkyoku.
after all は日本語の「結局」に似ている。
a. I guess I'll go to the movies, after all.
a. 「行かないと一度は決めたが」などに続けて、
a. やっぱり映画に行こうと思う。
b. Mrs. Jones let Jimmy go to the dance, after all.
b. 「最初は行かせまいと思ったが」などに続けて、
b. ジョーンズさん(既婚女性)は結局ジミーをダンスパーティーに行かせた。
c. After all, don't you think you should pay me for my troubles?
c. 君は私にいろいろ迷惑をかけた後なのだから → 結局、やはり
c. 結局のところ、君は私にかけた迷惑に対してお金を支払うべきだとは思いませんか？
2. If you're not doing anything is often used when inviting people to go some place or do something.
if yor're not doing anything (もし何もする予定がないのであれば)は、どこかに行こうとか何かをしようとか人を誘う時によく使われる。
a. If you're not doing anything tomorrow, how about going to the movies with me?
a. もし明日何も予定がないのなら、私と一緒に映画に行くのはどうでしょうか[→行きませんか]？
b. If you're not doing anything next week, how about helping me with my English?
b. もし来週何もすることがないのなら、私の英語を手伝うというのはどうでしょうか[→ 手伝ってくれませんか]？
3. To have luck is often used in conversation. Study the following examples.
have luck は会話でよく使われる。次の例を研究しよう。
a. Did you have any luck when you went fishing?
a. 釣りに行ったとき幸運に恵まれましたか[→ 魚は釣れましたか]。
b. I didn't have any luck at all.
b. 全然ついていいませんでした[→ 全然釣れませんでした]。
c. I never have any luck at cards.
c. have luck at ～ ： ～でつく、～で運に恵まれる
c. 私はトランプでは全くつきがない。
d. She has the best luck of anyone I know.
d. of anyone I know = of everyone I know = of all the people I know
d. 彼女は私が知っているいかなる人の中で[→ 彼女は私が知っている全ての人の中で]最も運に恵まれています。
