A: How long does it take to circle the globe today?
今日、地球を一周するのにどれくらいかかるでしょう？
B: I'm not sure. But I think a jet plane can do it in a few hours.
よく分かりません。でも、ジェット機なら数時間でできます。
A: Things are getting faster and faster, aren't they?
物事は[世の中は]はどんどん速くなって来ていますね。
B: They sure are. Just think, you can travel to Osaka by air in about an hour.
本当にそうですね。
ちょっと考えてみてください。１時間ほどで大阪まで飛行機で行けるんですよ。
A: Yes. It takes you almost that long to get to some parts of Tokyo.
that long ： そのくらいの長い時間 (long は名詞)
はい。東京の一部の地域に行くのにそれくらいの時間がかかりますからね。
B: Well, maybe they'll improve the transportation system.
多分、当局が交通システムを改善してくれますよ。
A: I hope so.
そうだといいですね。

A: Do you take the train to school?
電車で学校の通っているのですか？
B: No. I take the bus. How do you go?
いいえ。バスに乗ってます。あなたはどうやって[何で]通っているのですか？
A: I usually take my bike.
普段はは自転車を使っています。
B: It must take you a long time.
長時間かかるに違いありません。
→ 長い時間かかるんでしょう。
A: No, Just about half an hour.
いいえ。たったの30分ほどです。
