Greenpeace is an international environmental group that was started in 1971, in Vancouver, Canada.
environmental group ： 環境保護団体
グリーンピースは1971年にカナダのバンクーバーで設立された国際的な環境保護団体である。
The group's goal is to stop activities that are supposedly bad for our environment.
その団体[グリーンピース]の目標は環境に悪いと思われている活動を止めることである。
Though Greenpeace is non-violent, they sometimes act like soldiers and battle large companies that are doing damage to the earth.
do damage to 人 ＝ do 人 damage ： 人に害[被害][損害]を与える
グリーンピースは非暴力主義であるが、時に兵士のように行動し地球に害を与えている大企業と戦う。
The Green peace message is that we must take care of our planet.
グリーンピースの(伝えたい)メッセージは地球を大切にしなければいけないということである。
The group blames large corporations for damaging the earth.
その団体[グリーンピース]は地球に害を与えていることで[という理由で]大企業を非難する。
Often Greenpeace members stand outside of a company's office and protest.
outside of ～ ： ～の外に[で]
しばしばグリーンピースのメンバーは会社のオフィスの外に立ち抗議する。
They won't leave until the company agrees to change its policies.
won't Ｖ : どうしてもＶしようとしない(現在の強固な拒否を表す。未来ではないので注意)
agree to Ｖ ： Ｖすることに同意する
彼ら[オフィスの外に立ち抗議するメンバー]はその会社が方針を変えることに同意するまで決して立ち去らない。
Many people don't care to be actively involved, rather they show their support by donating money to Greenpeace's cause.
be involved (in ～) ： (～に)関係する 関与する
cause ： (個人や団体などが掲げる)目的 目標 主義 理念 (それを実現するための)運動
多くの人々は積極的に関わるのは好まない、むしろグリンピース(の掲げる)目的にお金を寄付することで支持を表明する。
As Greenpeace is a non-profit organization, they must get their money from the donations of people and earth-friendly companies.
グリーンピースは非営利団体であるので、個人や地球にやさしい企業の寄付から資金を得なければならない。
Some people don't care for the group's activities.
一部の人はその団体の活動を好まない。
→ グリンピースの活動が気に入らない人もいる。
In 1978, the group bought a boat, which they called the "Rainbow Warrior" and used it to try to stop commercial whaling.
1978年、その団体は船を買い、それをレインボーウォリアーと呼び、商業捕鯨を止めようと努力するためにそれを使った。
→ 1978年、グリーンピースは一隻の船を買い、それ「虹の戦士」と呼んだ。そしてその船を使って商業捕鯨をやめさせようとした。
Whalers, around the world, were not pleased with Greenpeace.
